February 8th, 2009

Hannah is now a month old. She's still in the eat/sleep/poop stage of life with small moments of play. We took a video of one of these moments and posted it on Facebook, but for those who don't go to that site, I'll put it here.

Nathan loves his new sister and does his best to show that love through playing with her, reading to her, and holding her when we ask. I've noticed that since Hannah's birth, Nathan has become more cooperative and helpful than before. It's been a very good change for him. He's still doing very well in school and becoming more socially adept as he goes.

Michelle is pretty much fully recovered from the birth. Now she has a pretty much full time job taking care of Hannah and Nathan and is frequently more tired than I am when I come home from work. As a result, we've been eating a bit less healthy lately :P My tendancy to make pizza, pasta, and desserts might taste good, but Michelle's food is far healthier. That said, I have been making some of the best chocolate chocolate chip cookies that I've ever had. The recepie is as follows:

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

11/4 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
21/2 cups Flour
6 1/2 Tbsp Cocoa powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2-3? cups chocolate chips

Soften the butter (in microwave, leave out overnight, beat it alone in a bowl, or whatnot). Add the sugars, vanilla, and eggs. Mix until creamy. Add the cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Mix well. Add the flour one cup at a time mixing into the dough. Mix in the chocolate chips (I like to use 1 cup Ghirardelli bittersweet chips and 2 cups Nestle semi-sweet chips for extra flavor...though to be honest, I don't measure, I just pour.)
Bake at 375oF for 8-10 mins.
